The System

Blast curtains engineered to contain shockwave and shrapnel from a 15,000 psi failure.

StopForce® blast curtains shield personnel and assets from shrapnel ranging 0.1 to 2.3 kg traveling at velocities up to 900 ft/sec. That is the kind of release possible from a choke, mud, or cement manifold failure on an oil and gas drilling rig.

A welded or bolted steel frame surrounds the protected area. Proprietary Xtegra auxetic yarn, wrapped in fire-rated PVC polyester and trimmed with high-performance perimeter rope, hangs from custom stainless steel trolleys, heat-treated double-locking carabiners, padeyes, and pivot links. The blast curtain glides into position for pressure testing and retracts for full access, enabling safer SIMOPS with less downtime.

Specifications

Built and tested to perform.

Independently tested at Southwest Research Lab. Twelve pounds of C4 detonated approximately 13 feet from the blast curtain produced a 40 psi blast wave. The bucket and 4×4 timber behind the Xtegra panel were untouched.
